Overview

Saxum returned to us to help produce a second Oklahoma Lottery spot set inside a high-energy, underground dance club called Scratch. The concept called for a fully immersive club environment featuring a 40-person dance troupe, a live DJ, synchronized dance lighting, neon signage, fog-filled atmosphere, and sweeping overhead camera moves. The spot was produced entirely inside our One Set Studio virtual production soundstage in Oklahoma City, transforming the space into the underground club Scratch through real-time virtual environments and in-camera effects.

Challenge

The creative demanded a world that felt larger, louder, and more electric than reality alone could provide. Building or retrofitting a practical location in Oklahoma to support the scale, lighting complexity, crowd density, and camera freedom required would have been cost-prohibitive and creatively limiting. Additionally, the spot needed to feel expansive and packed — beyond what could realistically be achieved with a single physical space and practical performers alone. The client also needed a sequence of main character sitting on a bench in a realistic neighborhood park on her lunch break, scratching her OK Lotto ticket as she daydreams about a win, leading to the dance club sequence.

Strategy & Approach

Our virtual art department worked in close collaboration with Saxum’s Creative Director, Mark Steele — alongside the practical production designer and art team — to design a hybrid environment that seamlessly blended physical set elements with expansive digital club architecture. Practical lighting, fog, and performance areas were integrated directly with the LED volume, allowing lighting cues, neon signage, and animated visuals to respond in real time to the music and choreography. To scale the energy and density of the space, MetaHuman dancers were used to extend the crowd beyond the practical 40-person troupe, creating the feeling of a packed, high-capacity club without overcrowding the physical set. This approach enabled dynamic overhead shots, wide angles, and immersive camera movement while maintaining full control over atmosphere, timing, and performance beats.

Outcomes

By leveraging virtual production, the team delivered a high-impact, visually electric club experience—one that could not exist physically in Oklahoma — while keeping the production efficient, collaborative, and creatively uncompromised.

“I recommend your team, technology, and studio.”
