One Set Studio was engaged to create a captivating cold-open video for a two-day conference for more than 800 attendees. We strategized, pitched, and executed an award-winning opener aligned with Developmental Disabilities Services’ mission. Built around the theme of stage-play production, this opener video pulled the audience into the motion, craft, and controlled chaos behind the curtain.
One of the greatest challenges of a conference opener is commanding attention as attendees are still transitioning into the room — and into the event mindset. The video has to break through ambient distraction, quickly establish energy and tone, and clearly signal that the program is beginning.
Filmed at the historic Lyric Theatre, the concept was executed as a “oner,” with carefully placed cuts that preserved a continuous feel while giving the video a more dynamic rhythm. Our workflow process provided end-to-end support, from strategy and pitching to casting and production.
The video succeeded as both a practical conference tool and a standout creative piece. Drawing on the energy, coordination, and behind-the-curtain teamwork of a stage production, it helped move attendees into their seats and prepared them to learn. The video turned the often-awkward opening moments of a conference into something engaging and intentional, while its strong creative execution earned award recognition.
