Overview

Seeking to elevate its commercials beyond traditional advertising conventions, Grand Casino tapped One Set Studio for an inventive production. To achieve elite production value without disrupting casino operations, the project was executed in two distinct phases: Phase One focused on building a fully realized digital twin of the casino floor, while Phase Two leveraged our state-of-the-art virtual production ecosystem to shoot the commercial.

Challenge

Filming high-end commercial assets traditionally requires shutting down physical spaces, which would cause significant revenue loss and logistical challenges for a casino floor. Additionally, the creative vision demanded complex, perfectly synchronized camera and set movements to produce a commercial at the desired standard. This creative concept included the first use of a turntable in virtual production in Oklahoma.

Strategy & Approach

One Set Studio pulled out all the stops by combining real-world practical effects with cutting-edge virtual production. Our in-house team wrote, directed, produced, and provided ICVFX supervision for the entire operation. By mapping the physical space into Unreal Engine and syncing physical mechanical set pieces with advanced camera robotics on our LED stage, we captured highly dynamic, award-caliber visuals in-camera.

Outcomes

Successfully built a high-fidelity digital twin of the Grand Casino floor that eliminated the need for the client to shut down revenue-generating casino operations for future commercial shoots.

Seamlessly integrated live rotation data from a 20-foot turntable with precision camera tracking through a Bolt™ robotic arm, delivering flawlessly synchronized virtual production backgrounds in real time.

Provided end-to-end agency execution and achieved cinema-grade visuals currently transitioning through post-production, setting a new benchmark for regional commercial advertising.
